ARTIST STATEMENT (Work + Process)
My work explores architectural space, trees, and figurative subjects as emotional portraits of place. I use structure such as rooms, facades, frameworks, and familiar objects not as documentation, but as a way to describe memory and mood. Color and negative space shape the atmosphere, allowing the subject to feel both present and slightly displaced.
My process is iterative, moving between drawing, painting, and printmaking. I begin with studies and reference material, test variations, and translate decisions into hand drawing and paint. In painting, line establishes structure while layered color fields shift the emotional temperature of the space. Cyanotype extends these ideas through positive and negative reversal and repetition, using multiple exposures to explore subtle compositional changes and how mood lives inside structure.
